Last updated: March 17, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using GradeMyLabel ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the App.
2. Description of Service
GradeMyLabel is a mobile application that scans ingredient labels and provides safety grades (A through F) based on regulatory data, peer-reviewed research evidence, and EFSA safety assessments. The App analyzes products across three categories:
- Food: Additives, preservatives, sweeteners, colorants, and other food ingredients evaluated against regulatory databases from 6 countries.
- Cosmetics: Skincare, haircare, and personal care ingredients assessed for endocrine disruption, allergenicity, and regulatory compliance.
- Household: Cleaning products, detergents, and household chemicals evaluated for toxicity, environmental impact, and safety around children and pets.
The App uses optical character recognition (OCR) to extract ingredient text from labels, matches ingredients against a curated database, and computes a composite safety score factoring in risk classification, regulatory status, and country-specific restrictions.
3. No Medical Advice
GradeMyLabel provides ingredient safety information for informational and educational purposes only. The safety grades, scores, and data presented in the App:
- Do not constitute medical, nutritional, or health advice.
- Should not be used as the sole basis for dietary, health, or purchasing decisions.
- Do not replace consultation with qualified healthcare professionals, allergists, or dermatologists.
- May not reflect the most current regulatory changes in all jurisdictions.
Always consult appropriate professionals before making health-related decisions based on ingredient information.
4. User Content
When using the App, you may submit the following content ("User Content"):
- Scanned labels: Ingredient text extracted from photos you capture or select.
- Product submissions: Barcode data, brand names, and ingredient lists for products not yet in our database.
- Corrections: Reports of inaccurate ingredient data, misclassifications, or missing information.
- Feedback: Bug reports, feature suggestions, and general feedback submitted through the App.
By submitting User Content, you grant GradeMyLabel a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, store, and process that content to operate and improve the service. You represent that you have the right to submit such content and that it does not violate any third-party rights.
